Aloo Lollipop
Aloo lollipop, perfect evening snack or party appetizer for kids. I had this pops in one of my friend’s daughter birthday party. Though it was looking appetizing the taste wasn’t good. They just fried potatos in oil. No flavor.
It was crispy. But I wanted to make it more tasty by adding some spices. So used my own idea and prepared it. It was stunning and my kid loved it as well. So here is my version and my own style aloo pops or potato lollipop.

Ingredients
Yield – 12-14 lollipops
For potato dumplings
Medium sized potatoes - 2
Ginger – 1 inch piece
Cumin seeds – ½ tsp
Green chilli – 1
Onion – ½ cup finely chopped
Curry leaves – 1 tbsp chopped
Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp chopped
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Garam masala powder – 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Other Ingredients Oil for deep frying
Bread crumbs – ½ cup
Corn flour – 2 tsp
Water – 3 tbsp
Tooth pick – 12 or more
Pressure cook potatoes with skin. Once cool down peel off skin and mash them well without any chunks.
Tip : Always cook potatoes with skin since skin contain lots of nutrients and when cooked together the inner flesh would absorb those nutrients.
Make fine paste with ginger, green chilli and cumin seeds and add it to mashed potatoes.
Add all other ingredients mentioned under ‘ to make dumplings’, mix well until well combined.
Make small dumplings with it and keep them ready.
In a small mixing bowl, mix together water and corn flour to make batter of thin consistency.
Now dip dumplings in corn flour mixture and then roll them in bread crumbs.
Preheat oil till it reach medium hot temperature but not very hot.
Drop those potato pops into oil and fry till golden brown.
Transfer into paper towel to absorb excess oil and then insert tooth pick to make pops into lollipops. Impotant Note : I recommend to steam cook potato then boiling in water because while boiling it might absorb water and if potatoes have moisture it will break while deep frying. So see to that the potato or any other ingredient you use does n't have moisture as shown in the video. Please make sure you deeps fry them immediately after mixed together with other ingredients like onion because if you let them sit for long time the onion may oozes out water and you stuff will become loose. again it will lead to break while deeps frying !
Serve it with ketch up or sauce of your kids favorite and let them enjoy. Though it is kids special there is no restriction friends. Even you and your family also enjoy.
