Basic
sponge cake
Basic sponge cake, is a basic cake to begin with baking other
extra-ordinary cakes like chocolate cake,strawberry cake etc. Once you succeed with
this recipe I am sure you are ready to bake any other delicious cakes. Another
important thing is this is my first baking recipe on my blog and youtube
channel. We are going to see lot more inrteresting and delicious baking recipes
like muffins,cup cakes,cake varities,cheese cake,bread varities, Naan varities and pizzas in
the next coming episodes.

Ingredients
All purpose flour or maida – 1cup
Baking powder – ¾ tsp
Salt – ¼ tsp
Egg - 2
Powdered sugar – ¾ cup
Butter – 50 gram [Melted]
Milk – 75ml
Vanilla essence – 1 tsp
Note : Butter and egg should be at room temperature
Method
Preheat your
oven to 220 degree Celsius for 10 minutes.
Brush your
baking pan with butter and dust some flour all around. This helps to take out
your baked cake easily from baking pan.keep it aside.
Take a mixing
bowl, place sieve over it and add all purpose flour,baking soda,salt and shift
it to avoid any lumps. If you see any lumps in it just break them down using
spatula.
Keep the
shifted flour aside.
Take another mixing
bowl and break egg into it. Using electric whisk, beat the egg for few minutes
till they fluffy.
Now add sugar
and beat again for few minutes. Beating helps to make your cake really soft and
spongy.
Once your egg
and sugar mixture is fluffy, add milk, melted butter [at room temperature ],
vanilla essence and ix it well until all ingredients are well combined.
Now add the
shifted dry ingredients [ All purpose flour,baking powder and salt] into the
egg mixture and mix them slowly using spatula until well combined.
Dont mix the
batter too much as it may form large holes like texture in your cake.
Once you are
done with cake batter, pour them into
the greased baking pan, level it and tap gently to make it even.
Place the
baking pan into your preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes.
To check
whether the cake is done or not, insert knife or tooth pick into the cake and
if it comes out clean, then your cake is done. Other wise bake for few more
minutes until it is done.
Transfer the
baked cake into cooling rack to cool it down. Serve and enjoy with family or
friends.
As this
recipe carries 1 cup flour you will get 1 inch cake while using 20 inch round
baking pan. Increase the measurment of ingredients if you want to ake big size
cake or use small inch size baking pan.
You could
also use your favourite frosting over it.
