Lemon Rice or எலுமிச்சை  சாதம்

Making variety rice are always easy and simple especially when you are not in a mood to cook. If you have your rice cooked ready you  can make this Lemon rice in just 5 minutes.

Oil – 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Channa dal – 1 tbsp
Hing or asepotida – ¼ tsp
Curry leaves – 1 spring
Red chilli – 1
Garlic – 3 pods [ Cut into round shape]
Onion – 1 medium size chopped
Turmeric – 1 tsp
Lemon juice – 3 TBSP
Cooked rice – 1 cup
Salt to taste
Sesame oil – 1 tsp
Roasted peanuts – 1 tbsp

தேவையான பொருட்கள் 

எண்ணெய் - 1 Tbsp
கடுகு - 1 tsp
கடலைபருப்பு - 1 tbsp
பெருங்காயம் - ¼ தேக்கரண்டி
கருவேப்பிலை - 1 கொத்து
சிவப்பு மிளகாய் - 1
பூண்டு - 3  பல் [வட்ட வடிவில் வெட்டப்பட்டது]
வெங்காயம் - 1 நடுத்தர அளவு வெட்டப்பட்டது
மஞ்சள் - 1 tsp
எலுமிச்சை சாறு - 3 Tbsp
சமைத்த அரிசி - 1 கப்
எள் எண்ணெய் - 1 tsp
வறுத்த வேர்கடலை - 1 tbsp


Place pan on your stove and add oil.
Once hot, add mustard seeds. Allow to pop- up.
Add channa dal and fry till golden brown.
Add hing,garlic,curry leaves, red chilli and fry for 2 minutes till raw flavor goes.

Add onion and turmeric and sauté till transparent.
Add lemon juice and let it to sizzle for 30 seconds. Switch off the stove .
To your cooked rice, add salt as per taste, sesame oil and roated peanuts. Mix them well.
Add lemon mixture and give it a mix till well combined and your lemon rice is ready.

Tips :

Let the rice cooled down completely and then mix with lemon mixture. If you mix while it is hot, it may break and ruin the dish.

While squeezing the juice from lemon, squeeze it gently. Dont squeeze too much, then the bitter taste from skin would come in juice and your rice may bitter in taste.

Let the lemon rice to rest for 2 hours before serving so that the lemon flavor will incorporate well into the rice that makes the rice really flavor full.
