Channa masala

Channa masala is popular punjabi dish and it is famous all over india for its extra-ordinary taste. It is cooked with indian spices,onion and tomato which is bit spicy and tangy. Channa masala goes great with Roti,chappati,naan . Usually it is always serve with batura, Indian big puffed  poori.So here are the ingredients and method to make channa masala in restuarant style.

Preparation time :15 minutes

Serves :  4

Ingredients :

Channa  - 1 cup ( Soak for 5 hours and add salt , pressure cook for 5 visel )
Onion - 2 medium size ( grate them finely using grater )
Tomato  -  4  ( finely chopped)
Ginger paste  -  2 tsp
garlic paste  -  2 tsp
Cinnamon  - 1/2 stick
Cloves - 3
star maze - 2
cardamom - 1 (crushed)
Bay leaf - 2
Cumin seeds and pepper corns - 1 tsp
turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Garam masala  - 1 tsp
Mango powder - 1 tsp
Kitchen king masala - 2 tbp
Salt to taste

Method :

Take 15 cooked channa and mash them finely.(gives thickness and nice aroma of channa dal in your masala) 
Add oil into pan.Once it is hot, add cumin seed and pepper corns.Once it splutter,add cinnamon,cloves,star maze,cardamom and finally bay leaf.
Once you got nice aroma of all those spices, add ginger garlic paste
Cook them till they golden brown,then add onion,saute them till raw flavour goes away.
Then add tomato into it and cook it till they are nicely mashed.To speed up the cooking you can add tumeric and salt at this point of time.
Once your tomatos are tender and mashed finely add garam masala,kitchen king masala,dry mango powder and mix them well and cook for another 5 min minutes
[Note: You can find kitchen king masala in any north indian grocery store.If it is not available you can use coriander and cumin powder instead]
Then add mashed channa and whole channa dal into it and  add 1 cup of water .Cook for at 25 minutes in low flame. You can increase or decrease the amount of water as your preference till the masala is finely cooked.
So you are done with cooking of channa masala.Serve hot with chapati,roti ,puri or naan and enjoy with your family.
